I joined the military in 2006 where I ran and ran my way to being (what I thought) was fit. I quickly developed a hatred of running (the Army tends to take the fun out of everything) and started escaping to the weight room whenever I had a chance. Once I came back to Colorado I discovered CrossFit and was blown away by the huge community of athletes that loved to work hard and push themselves. I totally fell in love with how simple, high intensity workouts could bring out the beasts in even the most unassuming people.
I started training people in 2010 and I have loved every minute of it. During my deployment in 2011 I really hit my stride and started training a wide variety of soldiers. Some were young and some were older. Some were healthy and some had pretty serious injuries (crushed knees, blast and gunshot injuries) but they all just wanted to get fit. It was a really awesome thing to see these guys all working toward the same goal and trying to be the fittest version of themselves. Seeing people become athletes when they thought they would never be capable of even doing a few push-ups is the coolest thing in the world.
