The Open is over! Who had a great time? I know I sure did. In the end the Open isn’t about competition (at least it shouldn’t be about competition for the 95% of us that aren’t trying to get to Regionals). What the Open is about, and I’ve said this from the beginning, is figuring out who you are as an athlete. Do you crack under pressure? Is your efficiency at heavy weight not there? Is your conditioning not up to par? Whatever it is now is the time to look back on your performance AND on your training in the shop in order to figure out what you need to focus on this coming year. Are you not pushing hard enough during strength work? Are you focused on the wrong things during BB Gymnastics? Maybe your focus on the weight on the bar is keeping you from going top speed? Whatever it is now is the time to get in some quality time with your coach and figure out a plan for the year (or at least the next few months). So give us a call and set up some office hour time ASAP.
