The CrossFit Open at CrossFit Thornton

The CrossFit Open only comes around once a year and it is an exciting time. All CrossFit gyms have their own flavor. Some of us follow the main site and some of us program for ourselves. Some of us focus on gymnastics and others like to work the barbell. Regardless of what we do in our programs The CrossFit Games helps to tie our communities together. You spend 5 weeks competing in workouts that are rated against athletes from all across the world. That means you can compare yourself to athletes from down the street or from the other side of the country. You can even compare yourself to the big names in the Sport of Fitness: Kalipa, Froning, Thorisdotter, Sakamoto…they are all logging their scores.

So register for the CrossFit Open and every Friday starting on the 28th of February come into the shop and get your score logged. If you are an at home WODer and you are looking for a place to get your score validated then come to our 5PM or 6PM class on Friday and we’ll help you out.

Changes from last year

CrossFit HQ is upping the standard for athletes who are making a run at Regionals this year. This year athletes who qualify for Regionals must have all of their workouts video taped and must have their scores validated by a certified judge.

CrossFit Thornton will also being upping our judging standard in order to give athletes and guests the best experience possible. Starting this year you have to have a certified judge score your workout if you are competing in the CrossFit Open. This means we need athletes who are willing to step up and take the online judges course in order to ensure we have judges present in all of our Friday classes. We highly encourage all of our athletes to take the online judges course. Not only will you be helping us out but you’ll get great information about competition rules and regulations, movement standards, and common faults that you can use to hold yourself to standard during training.

So take advantage of this opportunity to increase your knowledge of CrossFit and sign up for the Online Judges Course! Once you’ve passed bring a copy of your certificate in to the shop so we can track who we have available for judging.
