Jillian had a minute between rounds to sit down and chat with us for this month’s Athlete Spotlight. Here’s what she said:
Birthday: February 27, 1979
Occupation: General Surgeon
What did you know about CrossFit before coming here? That CrossFit took an overweight guy in his late 40’s, made him lose 50 lbs, and allowed him to do handstand pushups – in less than a year.
Why did you try CrossFit Thornton? Because that guy in his 40’s wouldn’t stop bugging me about it and I was very bored and lazy with my exercise regimen.
How do you like our program? Love it, love it, love it!
What is the best part of being at CF Thornton? The best part about CFT is the people you meet. Close seconds are the discipline, the sense of accomplishment and feeling strong!
Has your life changed since being here? I have gained about ten pounds in muscle weight, I no longer have migraine headaches, I sleep better, have less stress and I can do pull-ups! Oh, and I really love working out… which is not a sentence you would have ever heard me say…. Ever.
If there were one movement you wish the coaches didn’t know, what would it be? There’s more than one… wall balls and jumping lunges.
If you could only do one movement for exercise for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Burpee pull-ups.
What are your goals for the next 3 months? To run an 8 minute mile, to get some strict pull-ups and to do a handstand pushup.
Shout-outs? To my husband Corey, for being so supportive of this new part of my life, and to my coaches Jeff and Lawrence, who push me hard every day and show me that I can do more than I think I can.
