What did you know about CrossFit before coming here? I knew enough to be dangerous. I started doing CrossFit at home in December 2011. I learned by watching tons of videos and reading articles. I fell in love with CrossFit because you can get a great workout in even on those days when you only have 10 or 15 minutes to exercise; you can do it anywhere; and it is virtually impossible to get bored or hit a plateau. You can always move faster, lift heavier, or learn new movements – and just when you think you have seen it all, they throw something new at you!
Why did you try CrossFit Thornton? Although you can do CrossFit anywhere and it is a good fit for at-home athletes, you really need a coach to get to the next level and perfect the movements. I joined CrossFit Thornton because I wanted to lift heavier and get better at the Olympic lifts. I only intended to join for the summer, but of course I got hooked and kept coming back.
How do you like our program? I LOVE the CrossFit Thornton program! The coaches are awesome at teaching the movements and getting you to work at your full potential. The programming is well thought out and it is a perfect fit for competitive athletes as well as anyone that just wants to get fit.
What is the best part of being at CF Thornton? Being a part of a community that is always there to lift you up. It doesn’t matter who you are – everyone wants everyone to do their best, everyone is welcoming, and everyone feels included. I always feel good when I leave the gym.
Has your life changed since being here? Definitely. I have gotten stronger both mentally and physically – I have never felt better. Getting my husband and kids to join in the fun has been awesome, too.
If there were one movement you wish the coaches didn’t know, what would it be? Probably Wall Balls – they kill me!
If you could only do one movement for exercise for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Tempted to say Squats because I love them so much, but I have to say Wall Balls because it is a great all-over movement and impossible to do without breaking a sweat – I guess it is a love-hate thing.
What are your goals for the next 3 months? Align my upper body strength more closely with my lower body strength. Would love to be able to do unassisted pull-ups and gain more confidence on overhead movements.
Shout-outs? Big thanks to Lawrence and Jeff for all that you do. Thanks for your dedication, enthusiasm, and always being there 100%. Thanks to Mark for the personal coaching. Thanks to Bridget and all the female athletes – you are all truly inspiring!
