March Athlete of the Month
Age: 61.————-Started CrossFit: 1 Year.————-Favorite Movement: Everything.
I have lived in southern California, Las Vegas and here in Colorado, I help my husband with his roofing company, we have 60 pound puppy named Jake and I keep busy. I have 7 grand children, which help with when my kids ask. I love to camp, fish, sew, refinish furniture, help with painting houses, walls, whatever is needed and more.
How has CrossFit changed you?
CrossFit has changed me in so many ways. I feel better about myself, healthier, stronger, sticking with a commitment, (don’t laugh) my clothes that I could barely fit into last year are fitting better now. I am not where I want to be yet but am working on that with the help of the great coaching team and the members here at the gym.
What is your favorite quote or mantra you live by?
Keep the faith no matter what is thrown at you. Keep it simple as we always want to complicate issues. Always love & support your family. Be kind to others, you don’t know what they are going through.
What is your favorite WOD/CrossFit movement?
Not sure I have a favorite but I have done a few CrossFit classes lately instead of Flex and am loving them, I am planning on attending more. As Molly said one time, “come over to the dark side”.
What is your least favorite WOD/CrossFit movement?
Anything with burpees.
Athletic/Sports history highlights:
Sorry to say, no sports highlights, I never was quite good enough to make the team. I still tried though and did other things at school and in life. I do ski, bike ride, hike and chase grand kids.
How has CrossFit improved your overall wellness?
A year ago I decided I needed to do something different in my life to get myself in shape. I wanted to be around for my kids, grand kids and be able to be active with them. I have been to other gyms but not a CrossFit gym so I decided to try one. Once I tried it I knew this was what I needed and where I wanted to be.
Advice to new people?
Stick with it and you will see a change mentally and physically
